Celebrity Dreams…

Posted by Leigh on November 14, 2008

My husband has become a Travel Channel Junkie!  Most of our vacations, the last few years, have been planned to see and or do things that he’s seen on the travel channel.

Last night he decided that he wants to go to Las Vegas in the spring, and all because Samantha Brown was there!  She is apparently his celebrity dream woman right now.  On her Vegas show she was getting dance lessons from the Pussy Cat Dolls, he seemed to think it was pretty hot.  I just had to laugh, when he called me back to the living room to see it.   I wonder if she needs a male co-host?  I would happily lend him to her for a while!

It used to be Rachel Brown and her cooking shows that he was always watching, now it’s Samantha Brown and her travel shows.  I guess we all need a celebrity love affair, but I thought he would at least pick real celebrities!  Heck, anyone who knows me knows that my guy would be Toby Keith or Trace Adkins. (Yeah, ladies do love country boys!)

Let’s Talk About Rugs

Designing a Room Around a Rug?

I have finally found the most perfect area rug for my dining or living room area, I haven’t yet decided.  I just love the rug and plan on decorating the room around it, which ever room I eventually choose.  The same pattern even comes in a bunch of different sizes, such as runners, and small scatter rugs.

I have been shopping for area rugs for months.  I need to cover my new celery green carpet, which I have to admit now that I’m stuck with it was a terrible choice for a family that lives in the woods with small children and dogs. So far most rugs are way too busy, or have horrible colors, or so it seems to me.  The places it seems that I need them the most, are in the areas that connect all the open rooms, in other words where there is the most traffic and the most carpet showing.  It’s so hard to find rugs that can tie two rooms together though, usually I find one rug I really like, and it ends up being the wrong shape or size, or you can’t find anything to match it.

Then I stumbled upon this amazing website featuring cheap rugs of all shapes, sizes and designs.  I was thrilled, I actually found a few rugs that I would love to have, of course not all for in the same house.  The selection is great, and the prices are about the best I’ve found on area rugs yet.  I have to say, until I started shopping for rugs, I never realized how expensive they are - for a good quailty rug that is.

The great thing about this website is that it lets you not only search for the rugs by type and size, but also colors.  A great little tool when you are looking for rugs that will match two or more separate rooms.

I not only found a rug worthy of designing the room around, I found a few different complimentary rugs that will tie in the rest of the house!  So if you’re looking for rugs of any type, try SuperiorRugs.com, I highly recommend it!

Sir Talks a Lot

Posted by Leigh on

They say opposites attract!  But is it always a good thing when they do?

Our biggest opposite is the fact that my husband is a talker.  He can talk for hours if he has someone to listen.  He’ll talk to anyone, strangers at the grocery store, telemarketers, workmen, the kids, and mostly me.  Over the years I’ve learned to tune him out when he goes off on one of his storytelling bits, as I’ve heard them all already.  I’ve learned when I need to nod and make the proper noises, meanwhile my mind is far, far away on other things.

I actually type more than I talk.  In person, I’m usually the one sitting quietly, only making the occasional smart remark.  But I love to write, as I can censor it.  I get all my thoughts out, and then go back and take out the parts that shouldn’t be said.  And end up happy with the final results.  When it comes to talking, it’s hard to delete something that actually slips out!

Unique Christmas Gift Idea

Posted by Leigh on November 10, 2008

My sisters and I have been looking for something special to get our mother for christmas, as we’ve already decided to get our father the golf clubs he’s wanted.  I think I’ve finally found a great thing for my mom!

Personalized Team Blankets from a sports gifts website, of course we’re not going to get it with a picture of a sports team on it, but instead a picture of all of the grandchildren together.  Then she’ll have something else to show off to everyone they meet on their travels, she’s always showing off pictures of the grandkids already.  And well, what else to you get for the people who have everything?

Now I just need some good ideas for my teenage son!
