One of those days!

Posted by Leigh on February 5, 2008

Up most of the night due to horrible thunderstorms and a whimpering puppy (also due to the storms), the day didn’t start out good.  Within half an hour of waking, the guy showed up to pull the pump out of our (dry) water well, informing us that the guy from the insurance company had decided to wait until tomorrow to come take a look at the well.  Then Russ noticed that there was only about a foot of water in the water buffalo, luckily the trucking company that keeps the tank filled, showed up shortly.  Then Russ decided to do laundry, he overfilled the washing machine (he put in enough clothes for at least two full loads) and it overflowed flooding the hallway and laundry area.  During this time he got his slippers wet, he asked if they were dryer safe, and without thinking I told him yes.  So instead of emptying the dryer, he threw his wet slippers in with the load that was drying.  Later I pulled the load out to start folding it, and found it stunk like dirty feet… How nice…  So the whole load went back into the dirty laundry pile.  Next Ari decided that she wanted to play on her computer, I bent behind it to turn it on and guess what…. The freaking window was leaking…. pouring water into the bedroom right behind her computer and my alarm clock and lamp.  How nice it that?  so we got everything unplugged and moved, Russ is trying to fix the window, and I’m thinking about calling it a day and going back to bed!  Guess this isn’t going to be a very productive day after all…

Hope everyone else’s day is going much much better than mine!

First Love

Posted by Leigh on February 4, 2008

Why is it that we never forget our first love?

My first was a twin, after dating his brother and a few of their friends I finally hooked up with him in 9th grade.  We were off and on for years before finally parting for good after he graduated.  Living in a small town it’s hard not to run into old boyfriends, so over the years our paths have crossed quite a few times.  I usually feel weird trying to talk to him, but we always seem to try anyway… Why, I’m not sure, but he seems to feel the same way I believe.

Okay, so I’m rambling… I do think I have a point to make…

Anyways I haven’t seen him now in a few years, so why is he on my mind?  Well, I woke up early this morning when the new puppy woke up…  and I was having this great dream about this guy….  I remember almost nothing about the dream now many hours after waking up… but this morning I wanted nothing more than to fall back asleep and get back to the dream…  I laid in bed for a good two hours trying to doze back off… unsuccessfully…  so it must have been an awesome dream….

Okay, so maybe there isn’t a point to this post… but this is what’s been in the back of my mind all day…  So why do people we haven’t seen for ages always pop into our minds when we least expect it?  And why does the first love seem to be the one that pops into our minds first?
