Celebrity Dreams…

Posted by Leigh on November 14, 2008

My husband has become a Travel Channel Junkie!  Most of our vacations, the last few years, have been planned to see and or do things that he’s seen on the travel channel.

Last night he decided that he wants to go to Las Vegas in the spring, and all because Samantha Brown was there!  She is apparently his celebrity dream woman right now.  On her Vegas show she was getting dance lessons from the Pussy Cat Dolls, he seemed to think it was pretty hot.  I just had to laugh, when he called me back to the living room to see it.   I wonder if she needs a male co-host?  I would happily lend him to her for a while!

It used to be Rachel Brown and her cooking shows that he was always watching, now it’s Samantha Brown and her travel shows.  I guess we all need a celebrity love affair, but I thought he would at least pick real celebrities!  Heck, anyone who knows me knows that my guy would be Toby Keith or Trace Adkins. (Yeah, ladies do love country boys!)

Unique Christmas Gift Idea

Posted by Leigh on November 10, 2008

My sisters and I have been looking for something special to get our mother for christmas, as we’ve already decided to get our father the golf clubs he’s wanted.  I think I’ve finally found a great thing for my mom!

Personalized Team Blankets from a sports gifts website, of course we’re not going to get it with a picture of a sports team on it, but instead a picture of all of the grandchildren together.  Then she’ll have something else to show off to everyone they meet on their travels, she’s always showing off pictures of the grandkids already.  And well, what else to you get for the people who have everything?

Now I just need some good ideas for my teenage son!

What a Week…

Posted by Leigh on

Wow, it’s been a week since I posted last, and what a week it’s been.

Our family got hit with the flu virus bad!  If I wasn’t cleaning up puke, I was the one worshiping the porcelain throne.

By Friday we were all pretty much feeling better, and that’s when the telephone went down.  Friday night through Sunday afternoon, we were without telephone and internet access, except through our cell phones.

Sunday morning when we woke up, the furnace hadn’t fired during the night, so it was a bit chilly in the house.  We reset the furnace and it ran a full cycle.  Later in the afternoon, we noticed it once again hadn’t fired, and nothing we did would make it start, so we called in a repairman.

This morning, the furnace guy finally showed up, twenty four hours after we called him.  He couldn’t fix it, the part needed is under warranty and he’s not an authorized serviceman.  So we call the guy who is the authorized service provider, he informs us he can’t get to us until Wednesday, because he’s had so many people calling.

We gave up and called my dad’s one buddy, he showed up here within forty five minutes of our call, and had the furnace running 30 minutes after he got here.  We just paid for it ourselves, to heck with the warranty, it was getting dang cold in here even with a fire burning in the fireplace.

Now it’s after three and I’m finally just setting down to work, for the first time since last Monday, and hoping that this week goes a bit smoother that the last!

Another Monday….

Posted by Leigh on November 3, 2008

Already the week is taking a turn for the worse, I have a sick child today making messes all over the house.  My internet connection is once again acting up, Dang Windstream - get your network fixed properly!

And my whole house smells like fuel oil, and I can’t seem to get rid of it.  My husband spilled fuel oil on a pair of pants on Friday, he threw them in the master bathroom that night and by the time I realized what the smell was the bathroom reeked!  I threw them in the washer on Saturday morning, unfortunately the washer and dryer sit right in front of the furnace.  While they were washing the furnace kicked on and blew the smell the whole way thru out the house.  Gag!  I washed the pants three times now, sprayed the whole house with Fabreeze and still can’t get rid of the smell.  The pants are now soaking in a tub full of baking soda and soap and I’m trying not to breathe, and cursing my wonderful husband.  If they weren’t his favorite pants they would have gone in the trash Saturday.

WAIT! There is more to read… read on »
