Let’s Talk About Rugs

Designing a Room Around a Rug?

I have finally found the most perfect area rug for my dining or living room area, I haven’t yet decided.  I just love the rug and plan on decorating the room around it, which ever room I eventually choose.  The same pattern even comes in a bunch of different sizes, such as runners, and small scatter rugs.

I have been shopping for area rugs for months.  I need to cover my new celery green carpet, which I have to admit now that I’m stuck with it was a terrible choice for a family that lives in the woods with small children and dogs. So far most rugs are way too busy, or have horrible colors, or so it seems to me.  The places it seems that I need them the most, are in the areas that connect all the open rooms, in other words where there is the most traffic and the most carpet showing.  It’s so hard to find rugs that can tie two rooms together though, usually I find one rug I really like, and it ends up being the wrong shape or size, or you can’t find anything to match it.

Then I stumbled upon this amazing website featuring cheap rugs of all shapes, sizes and designs.  I was thrilled, I actually found a few rugs that I would love to have, of course not all for in the same house.  The selection is great, and the prices are about the best I’ve found on area rugs yet.  I have to say, until I started shopping for rugs, I never realized how expensive they are - for a good quailty rug that is.

The great thing about this website is that it lets you not only search for the rugs by type and size, but also colors.  A great little tool when you are looking for rugs that will match two or more separate rooms.

I not only found a rug worthy of designing the room around, I found a few different complimentary rugs that will tie in the rest of the house!  So if you’re looking for rugs of any type, try SuperiorRugs.com, I highly recommend it!

Starting to Feel like Home

Posted by Leigh on September 30, 2008

After a little more than two weeks, it is finally starting to feel like home. Most of the boxes are unpacked, we’re learning where all the light switches are, along with where we put everything.

Last night we even planted our trees in the front yard. Yeah, the same trees we had in front of the old place, we had dug them up and set them aside for a while, but now they are happily gracing our front yard. Well, all except my huge lilac bush, I’m sorry to say it didn’t make it. We left it lay in the woods too long, and it died.

ViseGrips, A Butter Knife, A Bucket and A Hammer….

That’s all you need to work on a new house. At least it is for mine, or so I’m quickly finding out. I’ve spent quite a bit of time with these item lately. Not to mention a vacuum, a broom and a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser! I just have to say that I love those things! They clean just about anything, without any cleaners, so no stinky smelling stuff that does horrible things to your hands. They work great on everything from the sticker residue on all the new appliances and hardware, to the drywall that was all through the new bathtubs/showers, to even the muddy rings left in the bath tubs, due to our crappy water/well.

The horribly bothersome water that’s been causing us so many stupid problems. And that’s where the rest of the above mentioned tools come into play.

Moving Day!

Moving in: Day 1

Finally after weeks and weeks of waiting, we are moving in! I can’t wait! They are coming out to hook up the telephone and DSL this morning, and tonight my family is moving home! Too bad the satellite won’t be hooked up until next week, but oh well, we’ll deal with it as long as we’re home!

We’ve been living in a damp dark basement for way too long. It’ll be so nice to move in to our own house, above ground, with lots and lots of windows and light. Not to mention that it’ll probably be warmer, this basement gets dang cold most of the time.

We’ve handed the whole mess with the mortgage brokers over to our attorney, and we’ve secured our loan with our local bank. So for the most part the whole mess is over. But if the mortgage brokers try to come after us for breech of contract, our lawyer is just dying to sue them for breeching their contract. Me, I don’t want to sue anyone… I just want to live in my own house, on my own land, with my whole family, including my dogs.
